Chelsea Antiquarian Book Fair Tours at Chelsea Old Town Hall

Friday, 12th October 2012
Chelsea Antiquarian Book Fair Tours at Chelsea Old Town Hall on Saturday 3 November

Following the success of the guided visits at the London International Antiquarian Book Fair at Olympia, earlier this year, the 22nd Chelsea Antiquarian Book Fair will be offering themed tours.

The guided tours are designed to take small groups of visitors to the fair who wish to learn more about books on a particular subject.

The 30-minute tours include, Back to childhood, for young and old alike, it focuses on all-time favourites as well as classic children’s literature and illustrations. Not only a chance to discover how much your favourite childhood book is now worth, visitors will also learn about how to start collecting.

Other tours include Finding the perfect gift, which will help groups understand what to look out for and how to find that unique gift for that special occasion, and Quirky Chelsea which will inform visitors about the local history, and explore some of the most unconventional books and illustrations at the fair.

In addition to tours, there will also be book signings. Publisher turned bookseller, Colin Franklin will be signing copies of his current book Obsessions and confessions of a book life. The book focuses on the reminiscences of an 88-year-old author, bookseller, and publisher. It wanders freely through themes that have absorbed him – a lost world of publishing, adventures in bookselling, and the irreplaceable scholarly eccentrics who dominated that world a generation ago. The signing will take place between 5.30-6.30pm on Friday 2 November.

The two-day fair will be open on Friday 2 November between 2-7pm, and 11-5pm on the Saturday 3 November. Tours will take place on Saturday, at Chelsea Old Town Hall, King’s Road, SW3 5EE.

Tickets are complimentary if booked in advance online, or £5 (£7 for two) if bought on the day.
