Kensington and Chelsea College Art Exhibition: Taking Flight

A group of emerging artists from Kensington and Chelsea College are getting ready to dazzle the West London art scene with their debut exhibition.

‘Taking Flight’ showcases the best new talent from the college’s HNC Fine Art Programme, which has an excellent success rate of placing students in higher education, including St Martin's, Goldsmiths, Chelsea and Camberwell.

The exhibition encompasses a dynamic mix of sculpture, video, painting, installation and drawing, and is being staged at the college’s Chelsea Centre, in Hortensia Road, from March 15-23.

Guests will also have the opportunity to buy some of the exclusive pieces on display, as well as meet the art world’s rising stars in a private viewing being held on Thurs 15th March, 6pm-8.30pm

Director Brian Deighton said: "The HNC Fine Art is a unique course in a changing educational landscape. Our students progress to top art schools and even postgraduate study. This show is a realisation of artistic ambition and innovation - a show by a diverse bunch of people who start the course as students and finish as artists."

HNC student Alex Osadcij, who plans to apply for higher education, said: "The course has helped me to express my emotions and ideas through art. The tutors and students are really inspirational."

Kensington and Chelsea College offers more than 900 courses including Higher Education. Students on Higher Education courses at the college will have their fees capped at £5285 per year, which is considerably cheaper than many university fees and nearly all students will be eligible to fund this fee from the new subsidised loan scheme which only requires repayments to be made on earnings over £21,000 a year.
