Young opera singers are taking on the economy as they attempt a staged production of La Boheme for less than 1% of the budget of neighbouring headliners Opera Holland Park.
Finding work as a new name in the opera world can be tough in a climate of arts cuts and small scale productions. Aeolian Court Opera has taken matters into their own hands and launched two shows of the popular opera La Boheme in an effort to draw attention from neighbouring opera companies scouting for talent. Aeolian Court Opera focuses on providing roles for young singers whilst working to the tightest possible budget. Many of the singers are doubling as photographers, stage hands and publicists in an attempt to gain experience and exposure.
