Diamond Jubilee Pageant Paintings

Wednesday, 18th July 2012
By Lynda Minter

The river Thames is the most inspiring river to paint.  The Diamond Jubilee Thames Pageant was the event of a lifetime it was so exciting watching it with the Kensington and Chelsea Today team from Tim Epps barge moored alongside Battersea Power Station.

We had fantastic views of all the boats and the cold wet weather made not one bit of difference to the day infact as a painter, I found the colourful flags vibrated against the pale grey sky. The Gloriana and the steam boats and lighters  were amongst my favourites.

I was so keen not to miss anything that  I set off a few days before the event  to sketch and photograph the barges and tall ships moored alongside Tower Bridge they looked splendid with all the colourful flags flying and enjoyed watching the small boats moored towards  Hammersmith Bridge making several visits to capture the boats in different lights.  Lynda Minter’s oil sketches can be viewed at  www.lyndaminter.com  oil sketches are 20x30cm on panel beautifully framed   priced at £650 each and will  be shown at the Lacy Road Gallery, 30 Lacy Road, Putney London SW15 1NL tel: 07849053662 from July 14th  gallery opening times Wednesday to Friday 11am 6pm Saturday 10am-6pm Sunday by appointment.
