One of the more pleasant roles that journalists can enjoy, alongside attending events in the Borough, is that we are often asked to review different establishments in order to let our readers know about their facilities and services. Generally speaking I do not get involved, as the invitations are a good way of sharing thanks around the editorial team for all their hard work and I personally find it difficult to be a recipient of services if reviews are unfavourable. This was certainly not the case with The White Room in Knightsbridge. This luxurious treatment haven, under the hands of Sophia Woods, really does offer the best massage, facial and reflexology I have come across to date.
The facial was customised to suit my skin using the natural organic products Cle des Champs from France. These products draw their inspiration from traditional Chinese medicine to bring inner peace and beauty by harmonising links between us and the environment. Each season our energies change and these products and treatments, only available through The White Room in the UK, were developed to complement seasonal transitions and the effects these have upon our skin.
My facial included a double cleanse and exfoliation, steaming and decongestion followed by an intensive massage which concentrates on pressure points to lift, firm and tone the face. The meridian and pressure points were also applied to my feet to areas which relate to the lungs and large intestine to enhance balancing the whole of the body. At the time of my visit to the salon I was suffering with carpal tunnel syndrome in my wrist which is very painful. Sophia spotted this immediately and applied her massage technique to this area. For the first time, for a long while now, I am pain free.
Sophia Woods is delightful. Not only is she interesting and modest she is an extremely talented therapist with ‘magical hands’ and ability to tune in and address clients’ needs. It is no surprise that celebrities are regular visitors. This salon is really worth a visitAutumn treatments have now begun at The White Room. Ingredients include pumpkin fibre, chestnut extracts, bitter orange as well as argan oil, hemp seed oil and shea butters. All designed to help prepare clients for the colder months ahead.
