Local brands host event for breastfeeding awareness week

Thursday, 28th June 2012
Peaks of London, in association with Blossom Mother & Child are joining forces to put breastfeeding back on the national agenda this week June 25th - 30th 2012.
Blossom’s fabulous Walton Street store kicked off the breastfeeding awareness week with a tea and cupcake party locally where mummies and toddlers alike attended and chatted. Visit Blossom's Walton Street store this week as they will be donating 5% of all nursing clothing and product sales to the Neonatal Unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital

For the second year running the NHS has been forced to cut all funding for its National Breastfeeding Awareness Week.

Notwithstanding the dubious attention garnered recently by 'that' Time Magazine cover of a glamorous 26 year old mother breastfeeding her walking, talking son in the US recently, there is woefully little attention given to breastfeeding help and grassroots assistance to new mothers in the UK. It's no wonder the UK's breastfeeding rates are so low in comparison with other European countries.

Taking matters into their own hands, Peaks of London and Blossom will co-host a Twitter forum throughout the week where women can 'talk' directly with a counsellor for advice on breastfeeding.

Peaks of London’s luxe range - exclusively stocked in London at Blossom - has given breastfeeding fashion an edge, with women like Sienna Miller snapping up the innovative collection.

During the week, you can also seek advice from a NCT breastfeeding counsellor in store and enjoy obligatory ‘boob-shaped’ cupcakes at the mid-week event. (Yes, really!)
