Man and horse have formed an indomitable bond since the animal was first domesticated around 4500BC. The channel through which we are able to witness this connection best in the modern age is the drama and excitement given to us by the sport of horse racing.
Known as the Sport of Kings, it is only at the racetrack where the farmer rubs shoulders with the financier, and royalty with the commoner. This royal connection which resulted in the title “Sport of Kings” is largely due to King Charles II who had a great love of racing and under the enthusiastic patronage of Queen Anne, it continued to flourish. On 1 May the sun shone for Trinity Hospice’s annual Golf Day. Eight teams of Trinity supporters enjoyed a great day of golf and helped to raise an amazing £11,520 to support the work of Trinity’s nurses, who care for over 2,000 terminally ill Londoners each year.
