Summer in the City kayaking fun

Thursday, 2nd August 2012

If Team GB's kayak teams have inspired you but you don't feel you're quite ready for the challenge of white water slalom, why not give the sport a try on the more calm waters of the Grand Union Canal.

This summer children and young people aged from nine to 19 can take up a paddle and enjoy supervised canoeing and kayaking classes at the Canalside Activity Centre.

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea along with the Hammersmith & Fulham and Westminster Councils has created the "Summer in the City" programme offering youngsters the chance to participate in an action packed schedule, with weeks of enjoyable sports, arts and creative activities.

The Canalside Kayaking Sessions run every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and cost just £4 for each time. For information on the full Summer in the City programme, check the summer 2012 listing booklet. To reserve a place phone 020 8968 4500 or email canalside.centre@rbkc.gov.uk

For information on the 100s of activities offered by Summer in the City programme go to www.rbkc.gov.uk/summerintheycity.
