Despite a forecast of showers and downcast weather, NHS West London Clinical Commissioning Group, and Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea successfully launched the St Charles Health and Wellbeing Health Centre’s new community gardens – a gardening project, which involved residents, patients and local organisations to grow their own fruit, vegetables and plants.
The event proceeded with Dr Fiona Butler WLCCG GP and Vice Chair, congratulating all those involved on the success of the project, particularly as the site is located so centrally in London, where outdoor space is very limited. The opportunity for local residents to enjoy gardening and its therapeutic properties is often restricted. She commented: "I am delighted that West London CCG is committed to continue the development of St Charles as a community health centre. These gardens are a marvelous haven in the area where many people lack their own garden space.”
