London Steps Back In Fashion Time For Vintage Walk

Wednesday, 22nd August 2012
Unique event aims to unite fashion eras in largest sponsored walk of its kind.

Have you ever wondered what stepping back in fashion time would look like? If everyone you passed on the street seemed to come from a different era?

On Friday, 28th September 2012, a pageant of flamboyant flapper girls, jazz age swingers and sixties hipsters will be making its way through the Capital, raising money with every stylish step for one of London’s most worthwhile causes.

The Vintage Midnight Walk is an annual 10K evening parade through some of London’s most beautiful and iconic landmarks, featuring hundreds of immaculately attired individuals and teams, every one of them representing some of the finest fashions from bygone times. At the end of the Walk is an exclusive afterparty, that promises to be an extravaganza of vintage proportions.

Every penny raised by the Vintage Midnight Walk goes directly to St Joseph’s Hospice, a remarkable charity that cares for some of London’s most vulnerable people. Since 1905, St Joseph’s Hospice has provided specialist care, treatment and dignity for thousands of people with incurable illnesses who live in the Capital. Its mission is to add life to days, providing a service free of charge to those who can benefit from it, at a time when they need it most.

Speaking about the Walk, Ranall Leckie, Events Fundraiser at St Joseph’s, said: “The Vintage Midnight Walk is a unique event in our calendar, generating vital funds and awareness of the work that we do here. It’s also an amazing night out, a chance to meet like-minded people truly dressed to the nines, and a rewarding opportunity for people to do something a bit different on behalf of a hugely important cause.”

A dedicated website, at www.vintagewalk.co.uk, has been set up for registrations and further information. From there, visitors can set up individual profiles and create teams, all within a vintage-themed setting. As each sponsorship threshold is reached, the profile pages change to reflect different eras of fashion, from the roaring twenties to the swinging sixties.

The Vintage Midnight Walk is a true spectacle, a visual feast of fundraising open to all people with an eye for dressing up, and a desire to step up and support an incredible charity.
