Kings Club

Tuesday, 29th November 2011

Kings Club is a private members club situated on the world-famous Kings Road within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea within the premises of what used to be the famed Mamilanji's club.

Kings Club is comprised of three different areas; The Main Room, The Roof Terrace and The Persian Room. We had the pleasure of attending a burlesque night, a weekly Wednesday night event in the Persian Room.

The décor of the Persian Room is nothing short of decadent extravagance. Scarlet drapes, crimson carpets, four poster style seating areas and oriental gilt lanterns set the scene. The bar is not only the perfect place to enjoy a range of specially selected wines and cocktails but also to feast and dine on a variety of Eastern inspired nibbles from falafel and hummus to kebabs and honey drenched baklavas.

Scarlet and blue lights set the scene for a series of performers to dazzle the guests. Poised at the crisp pink baby grand piano the sultry toned singer that was the first act belted out Adele and Alicia Keys creating an opulent atmosphere maintained by her corseted red ball gown. A contortionist was next on the entertainment bill and with undeniable strength and agility the glitter-clad woman performed a list of incredible feats as she twisted and distorted her body around to rapturous applause and amazement.

The guests, bathed in the seductive colours of the club, sipped on champagne and chatted away as disco classics played in the background. After a short half hour break we were delighted by a burlesque vixen fluttering her feathers much to the gentlemen’s enjoyment. The dancer was dripped in scarlet and sequins from her head dress to her nipple tassels right down to her ruby slippers. She showcased amazing skill and class through her dancing.

This act was closely followed by a double act of dancers who created a festive theme dressed as Mrs. Santa Clause, the twosome pranced around the club encouraging guests to get up and dance along before popping balloons and showering the audience in sparkle.

Last but certainly not least was a fire-eater, who stunned the ladies and teased the gents as she worked the room swallowing and dancing with batons alight with fire.

Kings Club Chelsea can conjure imagination and aid relaxation after a long day.  Its varying performers wow the captivated audience and ensure there is some sort of entertainment for every taste. I know I will definitely be returning.

Kings Club is located at 107 Kings Road, Chelsea.
